Dance Sites Quide
Dancing enthusiasts know that the internet is a great place to find information related to dance. After becoming involved in dance, I visit dancing websites regularly. It is my opinion that people who are interested in starting a business in any way related to dancing would be wise to promote their business online.
My own personal experience is based in swing dance. When I started my first class in 2003, I had had no training as a dancer. I felt like I had "two left feet". Buy even though dancing didn't exactly come naturally, moving to the music quickly became addicting. I made a lot of good friends dancing, I wanted to do as much of it as I could.
Without delay, I searched the internet for more information regarding dance. I found great dance sites, many with with useful local information. I found the online calendars and local dance schedules to be particularly helpful.
Another feature of dance sites that I have found useful is the message board, which allows dancers to communicate even when they are not in the studio. The message boards can be used for a variety of information exchange about happenings in the dance world as well as posting shoes and other equipment for sale. Many of the most interesting message board posts are about DJs in the area and how they compare, which would help you find the right club to head to for the night to enjoy some music.
I would definitely recommend that anyone starting a dance-related business start a website to advertise themselves. Say, for example, you are opening a new studio to give ballet lessons to kids. Why not use the internet to make yourself known to all the parents surfing the web looking for ballet websites to sign their kids up for classes!
As an experienced dancer I can tell you that some dance websites will provide you with a lot of good information. It is clear that other dancers also depend on the Internet to retrieve information about events related to dance. People who have dance related businesses would be wise to benefit from this interest by opening their own dance sites.
Variations on the same type of dance studio marketing will work for most dance sites, albeit with some customization. A satisfied customer tells an interested party about the studio, and then the interested party becomes involved as well. However, dancing websites might not come up in a typical conversation so encouraging active participants to spread the word is important. This does not mean that proprietors of ballet websites should become professionals in marketing a dance studio, but if there is a children's recital or a production, making the extra effort to encourage participants to tell their friends and family can spark some interest.
